Since the establishment in 2001 of Lithuania's National EFA Forum, regular meetings have been held and the Forum has been registered legally. In different regions of Lithuania thirty-five mini EFA Forums have been created and twenty were formally registered; the others were attached to the local education councils. The EFA National Forum stimulated wide discussion on EFA in the country, and as a result education has become one of the first political priorities. The work of the Forum influenced and contributed to the preparation of the three major documents: the National Education Strategy for 2003 - 2012; the Education Law and the National EFA Plan of Action. All three documents were submitted to the Parliament for approval.
